Internal Grant Program

The BMB Internal Grant Program

The BMB Internal Grant Program is open to faculty with a primary or secondary appointment in the Department of Biochemistry.

Awards of up to $50,000 are available. There are two types of proposals, which can be submitted at any time. Reviews are conducted by an internal panel and will be completed within 2 weeks of submission.

Details on the proposal types and documents needed for submission are below.

Types of Proposals
S0 Proposals:
  • Original Research

Proposals should be based on a new line of research that has not been externally funded. However, projects currently or previously funded from small internal funding sources are allowed in this mechanism.

  • Overlap

No overlap with existing, externally funded research is allowed for this mechanism.

  • Review and selection criteria

Proposals will be judged based on novelty of the project, scientific rigor, and the likelihood of NIH funding.

  • Resubmission

One resubmission is allowed within this mechanism.

S1 Proposals:
  • NIH-funded Research

This mechanism is for NIH proposals that were discussed, but not funded.
