Edwin Antony Receives R35 Award

Congratulations to Edwin Antony, Ph.D., Professor of Biochemistry, on being awarded a $2.7 million R35 grant from the NIGMS. His project, entitled “Coordination of DNA metabolism by replication protein A,” will be funded for 5 years.

The focus of the grant is on how defects in DNA metabolic processes that replicate and repair the genome lead to genetic instability and chromosomal rearrangements, which can cause cancers, aging, and inherited disorders. They aim to decipher the underlying molecular mechanisms that can be exploited to develop novel chemotherapeutics and treatments.
