Kaushalya Amunugama, graduate student, Daniel Pike, Ph.D., former M.D./Ph.D. student, and Dave Ford, Ph.D., recently published a review entitled “The Lipid Biology of Sepsis” in The Journal of Lipid Research.
The paper discusses the link between sepsis and lipid metabolism, including the potential roles of dysregulated lipid metabolism and the resulting bioactive lipids and fatty acids in sepsis pathogenesis. In addition, recent findings show a possible use of these lipids as biomarkers for early sepsis as well as providing potential novel therapies.
