The 2nd Center for Genome Integrity retreat took place on May 11-12, 2023 at Cedar Creek Lodge in New Haven, MO. The retreat was organized by Alessandro Vindigni, Ph.D., Adjunct Professor of Biochemistry and Professor of Medicine, Pathology and Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine and Director of the Center for Genome Integrity at Siteman Cancer Center and BMB also contributed towards the costs of the retreat.
The retreat had over 60 participants from several different departments, including 12 talks from trainees and more than 30 abstract submissions. Sergey Korolev, Ph.D., and Jaigeeth Deveryshetty, Ph.D., from Biochemistry at SLU, both gave presentations during the retreat.
The keynote speaker, Matthew Weitzman from UPenn, gave a talk about his research on the mechanisms of virus infection and their connection with genome stability in addition to meeting and interacting with trainees during the retreat.
